Jowee Omicil invokes his Haitian roots with a project dedicated to the secret voodoo ceremony of Bwa Kayiman, on the north coast of Haiti, on the night of August 13 to 14, 1791, a founding act of the uprising that would bring independence. By connecting with the spirit of his deported ancestors, the saxophonist touches the vibrant heart of music: the power to heal souls through notes, and the ability to release emancipatory energies. Surrounded on record and on stage by a team in tune with his intentions, like the Guadeloupeans Arnaud Dolmen and Jonathan Jurion, the saxophonist has put into sound a true healing ritual where a gentle wind of revolution blows in the direct line of the most emancipated jazzmen. Enough to leave a lasting mark on minds.
